Lokayukt Jharkhand addresses plenary session on Laws of Environmental organised by IGNFA, Dehradun

Ranchi: Justice D N Upadhyay Lokayukta Jharkhand on Tuesday delivered the plenary address of the session on the theme on the Laws on Environment, forest and wildlife in India- Judicial engagements and perspectives, recent trajectory and prospects.

Justice Upadhyay in his session which was addressed through a virtual platform focused on the current status legal framework in the context of forest and environment. He also talked about anticipatory, precautionary and compensatory regulations to balance between sustainable development and environment protection. He emphasized the Indian Environmental Juris Prudence with help of principles of environmental law protection.

According to him these principles are required for guiding human actions and activities in harmony with the environment. He stressed that continued tolerance of violation of law may lead to a society that is indifferent to such regulations and norms. Justice Upadhyay quoted David Attenborough for his devotion and concern for environmental conservation.

He urged on the proactive role of the executive and administrative agencies in performing their duties as statuary obligations. He also emphasized on the need for better coordination among various wings of executive machinery. He suggested that the new entrants and young field officers should take such responsibility with full sincerity and zeal.
