Light to medium range of rainfall recorded in many areas of state

Ranchi: Many districts of the state including the state capital of Ranchi on Sunday reported light to medium range of rainfall.

Though it had remained bright and sunny throughout the day later afternoon sky gave way to dark clouds and soon it started raining with thundering and lightning.

The MET department has predicted rainfall in the state till August 27 during which in Southern Areas heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted. On August 24 and 25 only Monsoon would remain active over the state.

As per the weather department on August 24 apart from the six districts of Santhal Pargana division the districts of Ranchi, Bokaro, Giridih, Gumla, Khunti and Ramgarh might witness heavy rainfall at one or two places while on August 26 also heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted in the state.

Director of the Ranchi MET department Dr. SD Kotal said that low pressure is forming over the Bay of Bengal which can also cover Jharkhand due to which rainfall at regular intervals will take place in the capital on Monday and Tuesday.

On the other hand in the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained weak in the state as only a few places reported light to medium range of rainfall. Hazaribagh recorded maximum rainfall at 70 mm while Chaibasa was coolest at 23.6 degrees and Jamshedpur was hottest at 32.2 degrees.
