Last farewell given to the martyred soldier: Hundreds of villagers including DC-SP paid tribute to the martyred soldier

Gumla: Lal Santosh Oraon of Gumla was martyred after being hit by an IED laid by Naxalites in the GoilKera forest of West Singhbhum. As soon as his mortal remains reached his native village Turiya Dih by road on Saturday, the entire village became inconsolable.

At around 9 in the morning, the police administration entered the block headquarters with the dead body. Slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Santosh Oraon Amar Rahe started being raised. Flowers started raining on the mortal remains.

There was a crowd of people on both sides of the road in Chandni Chowk of Ghaghra block headquarters. Martyr Santosh’s mother Geeta Devi started crying as she hugged her son’s body. Wife Ful Sundari also could not stop her tears. Martyr Santosh’s two children, 8-year-old son Siddharth and 5-year-old Aditya also kept looking at the dead body of their father.

In the afternoon, the martyred soldier was given a final farewell in the village with Sarna rituals. The entire CRPF team including DC Karan Satyarthi, SP Harvendra Singh Abhiyan, SP Manish Kumar, SDPO Manish Chandralal, police station incharge Amit Choudhary gave the salute. Also, the officers offered flowers and bid their last farewell.

On the spot, DC and SP met the martyr’s wife, Talked to the mother and her two children and consoled them. Presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh. On the spot, DC said that the government and the district administration are completely with the family.

Every government facility will be provided to the family and dependents of martyred soldier Santosh. During the funeral of martyr Santosh, childhood friend Sahdev Bhagat was crying a lot while moving away from the crowd.

Both have studied together in school and college. He said, Santosh was worried about everyone. He always advised the youth of the village to work hard from now on to join the service of the country. 

Santosh’s brother Sant Ram Oraon said, due to the martyrdom of Santosh, the entire family has now become destitute. The household was run by Santosh’s earnings alone. He himself took the responsibility of taking care of the entire family.

Along with his children, he also provided education and upbringing of his two children in Livens Academy School, Ranchi. He wanted to make all four children capable by educating them. Brother said that Santosh kept saying that he should stop worrying about the children. He himself will educate them and make them stand on his feet. You just take good care of your mother and home.
