Ranchi (IANS): The bail petition of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav was rejected by Jharkhand High Court on Friday.
Justice Apresh Kumar Singh’s court rejected the bail petition. The court observed that two months are left to complete half term of the jail sentence. Bail could be granted only after completion of half period of the jail sentence.
CBI while opposing the bail said that two months seven days are left in completion of half period of the jail sentence. The High Court after hearing the plea of the CBI rejected the bail petition.
After bail was rejected, Lalu Prasad’s lawyer said that two month jail period has not been counted. Lalu Prasad had remained in judicial custody for one month in1997 and one month in 2001 which have not been counted.
Lalu Prasad’s lawyer said that the fresh bail petition will be filed after two months.
Lalu Prasad had filed a bail petition in Dumka treasury fraudulent withdrawal sentence. He was sentenced to seven years in jail.
Lalu Yadav was convicted and awarded jail term in four cases. He has already got bail in three cases.
