Ranchi: Social media app WhatsApp has assured necessary support to the CBI in connection with the murder of judge Uttam Anand.
While appearing before the bench of Jharkhand Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Dr S N Prasad via videoconferencing on behalf of WhatsApp senior lawyer Kapil Sibal said that on the necessary points on which CBI wants cooperation will be extended by the company.
He further said that if Chat record is available then the company will have no problems if providing the details. Appearing on behalf of CBI in the case senior Advocate SB Raju detailed the court regarding the progress in the investigation of case.
District and Sessions Judge of Dhanbad Uttam Anand was killed on a morning walk on July 28, 2021 after he was hit by an autorickshaw.
Initially the Jharkhand Police had formed an SIT over the case but later the case was handed over to the CBI by the High Court. In this connection two culprits have been arrested in the case.
The CBI had informed the court that WhatsApp was not extended necessary help to the team after which the court had directed to make the social media giant a party in the case.
