Kejriwal claims Soren’s support against Centre’s ordinance on control of services

Ranchi: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren has expressed his solidarity with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal who reached Jharkhand accompanied by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann in order to seek support against the central government’s ordinance that nullifies the Supreme Court constitution bench verdict and wrest control of services from the Delhi government.

In a joint press conference, Hemant Soren said he will also discuss the matter with his father and JMM supremo and Rajya Sabha member Shibu Soren. He justified his support to Kejriwal saying the BJP government in the centre is not allowing the democratically elected non-BJP government to work and thus attacking the federal structure of the democracy in India.

Kejriwal sharing his strategy to seek support against the ordinance said that his aim is to stop the ordinance from getting passed by the Rajya Sabha where it will be brought in the monsoon session after one and half months. He said it is possible as the BJP has only 93 of 238 members in the Rajya Sabha.

He said that his relationship with Chief Minister Hemant Soren is like a brother. The people of Delhi are being insulted and injustice has been done to them he said adding that taking a revolutionary decision, the Supreme Court gave all the powers to the Delhi government. The people of Delhi should choose any government, they should have all the rights to work he said.

The decision came on May 11 and on May 19 at 10 pm, the Modi government overturned this decision by bringing an ordinance. The rights of the people of Delhi have been taken away he said adding that this ordinance will come in the monsoon session of Parliament. The BJP has a majority in the Lok Sabha, but this bill can be stopped in the Rajya Sabha if all parties unite he said.

The Delhi Chief Minister said that the ordinance which the Modi government has brought for Delhi today, can be brought for Jharkhand as well. He said that he was traveling across the country and appealed to other parties from this forum to join him Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the central government talks about federal structure, but works exactly the opposite.

The Center is not allowing the elected government to function which is an attack on the democratic system. It is also an attack on the country’s strength, unity in diversity he said adding that the situation in non-BJP-ruled states is similar. People have an important role in this democracy, legislators and MPs are only a medium he pointed out.

Adding further he said that BJP is trying to make fun of the contribution and sacrifice made by our people in getting freedom for the country. There are people from Jharkhand in Delhi as well as people from all over the country. With such a decision, there is an attempt to affect the whole country he said.
