Mumbai- The upcoming episode of the popular quiz-based reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati will feature members of the World Cup-winning Indian Women’s Cricket team.
The special episode will host skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, along with Harleen Kaur Deol, Richa Ghosh, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, and India Women’s Team Head Coach Amol Muzumdar.
Bringing together two of India’s greatest passions—cricket and quizzing—the episode promises light-hearted moments, on-field stories, team camaraderie, and a spirited interaction between the players and host Amitabh Bachchan. It will also celebrate the pride and power of India’s Women in Blue. However, the team’s star opener Smriti Mandhana appears to have skipped the episode.
Earlier this month, Team India clinched the Women’s World Cup title by defeating South Africa, mirroring the Men’s team’s triumph over the same opponents in the T20 World Cup 2024 final.
In the final, South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl. India posted a strong total of 298, narrowly missing the 300-run mark. The Proteas began their chase with a stunning 101 off 98 balls by skipper Laura Wolvaardt, before Deepti Sharma dismissed her and turned the game.
Laura remained South Africa’s lone major scorer, and after her wicket, the Proteas faltered once again on the big stage. India went on to win by 52 runs. Deepti Sharma earned the Player of the Tournament award, while Shafali Verma was named Player of the Match.
India’s victory resonated deeply with fans across generations—especially those who lived through the heartbreaks of the ICC Men’s World Cup 2003 and 2023, and the highs of the 2011 triumph, the 2007 and 2024 T20 World Cup wins, and the iconic 1983 victory.
Kaun Banega Crorepati airs on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
