Kalpana Soren slams BJP for reducing quota for backward classes

Ranchi: At a rally held in support of Congress candidate Amba Prasad in Barkagaon, Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren sharply criticized Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. She questioned his recent visit to the region, saying, “A few days ago, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh visited here and rode in a bulldozer. What was he trying to convey? Was he suggesting that bulldozers will run over the homes of local people in Barkagaon? No, Yogi ji, this is Jharkhand, not UP. Here, it is not bulldozers but the development vehicle of the Grand Alliance that will move forward.”

Soren accused opposition leaders of visiting the region but focusing only on internal party issues instead of addressing the real concerns of the people. “Big leaders visit, but they never talk about the basic needs of the people. They only discuss internal political conflicts. No one is talking about the real issues of Barkagaon’s residents,” she said.

Kalpana Soren also attacked the BJP for reducing the reservation for backward classes in Jharkhand. “When Jharkhand was formed, BJP leaders reduced the reservation for backward classes from 27% to 14%. When our Grand Alliance government passed the bill to restore the 27% reservation for backward classes in the state assembly, BJP had no courage to speak out. They only talk about their party, not about the people,” she alleged.

She highlighted that the Grand Alliance government had always fought for the rights of tribal and backward communities, pointing out that they had passed the Sarna Code for tribals and would continue to do so. “Today, the 27% reservation for backward classes has been reinstated, thanks to the efforts of our government,” she said.

Kalpana Soren stated that once the Grand Alliance forms the government, they will ensure 95% local participation in the mining companies operating in the region. “We will ensure that local people have their rightful share in the development of this area,” she promised.

She also posed a question to the people of Barkagaon, saying, “Why do these big leaders only come during elections? But Amba Prasad has always stood by you, in your joys and sorrows, not just during elections.”

Soren appealed to the people to support the Grand Alliance in the upcoming elections, ensuring that Barkagaon and Jharkhand move toward greater development.
