JMM to field it’s own candidate for Rajya Sabha polls, CM leaves for New Delhi to hold talks with Congress High Command

Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha legislature party has decided on the name of candidate it will field in the Rajya Sabha election for two seats of the state on June 10.

The party, however, did not disclose the name saying it will be done once consultation with Sonia Gandhi and other senior Congress party leaders on the matter is over. At the end of the legislature wing meeting Party general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said Chief Minister Hemant Soren will leave for Delhi in the evening to discuss the matter.

He made it clear that the party has unanimously decided to field its own candidate to ensure one seat in Rajya Sabha and expected the support of Congress for the same.

Bhattacharya said other decisions taken in the meet include a meeting with the President of India in June for the inclusion of the Sarna religion code in the census form to give Sarna believers a different identity from followers of other religions in the country.

Apart from this, he said the legislative party also discussed the current political situation and expressed its concern over the way BJP is attempting to create political instability in the state.
