Jharkhand Youth Hacked to Death in Giridih, Police Suspect Rivalry Angle

Giridih: A 24-year-old youth was brutally murdered late Monday night under the Pachamba police station area in Giridih, sending shockwaves across the locality. The victim, identified as Taufiq Ansari, had recently been released from jail, police said on Tuesday.

According to officials, the attack took place near Azad Nagar Chadra Bridge, where Taufiq was allegedly called for a meeting as part of a pre-planned conspiracy. A friend accompanying him said that around midnight, he received a call from a local resident, after which he went to the spot along with three others.

Investigators believe that the assailants, numbering four to five, were already waiting. An argument reportedly broke out soon after his arrival, escalating quickly into a violent assault. Armed with sharp-edged weapons, the attackers chased Taufiq when he tried to escape, eventually overpowering and fatally injuring him.

Family members who rushed to the scene found him in a critical state. They claim that before dying, Taufiq named the individuals involved in the attack — an alleged dying declaration they say was recorded on a mobile phone.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving information, sent the body for postmortem, and recovered the victim’s phone from a nearby drain. Preliminary findings suggest the murder could be linked to personal enmity and a struggle for local dominance. Officials also confirmed that the deceased had a prior criminal record and had served time in jail.

Special police teams have been formed, and raids are underway to track down the accused.
