Jharkhand Police remembered the sacrifice of brave martyred soldiers, paid tribute

Ranchi: Police Remembrance Day was celebrated on Saturday at Zap-One Ground in Doranda. During this, the brave martyred soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the state and country were remembered and paid tribute to them. At Zap One Ground, many police officers including DGP Ajay Kumar Singh paid homage to the martyred soldiers.

On the occasion, DGP Ajay Kumar Singh said that martyred policemen always inspire us to do better in the line of duty. On this day, we should remember only the martyrs and should also think about how to help their families. 

There have been 671 Naxal incidents in Jharkhand in the last five and a half years.

In these Naxal incidents, more common people have been killed than Naxalites. From January 2018 to August 2023, Naxalites killed 125 civilians. During the operation being conducted against Naxalites, security forces killed 92 Naxalites in the encounter. On the other hand, 36 soldiers have also been martyred in this encounter. This year, five soldiers were martyred during the operation being conducted against Naxalites. Which includes four soldiers and one police officer.

Sub Inspector Amit Tiwari and constable Gautam of Cobra Battalion were martyred in an ambush by Naxalites on the night of 14 August. Whereas on August 11, CRPF head constable Nishant was martyred. This year, Jharkhand Police has suffered the most loss in Kolhan.

On the occasion of Police Remembrance Day, the five brave martyrs were remembered and saluted. This year, a total of 188 officers and soldiers of the country’s Para Military Force and police forces of various states have attained martyrdom while displaying indomitable courage.

On October 21, 1959, CRPF officer Karm Singh was martyred along with 20 of his comrades in an attack by the Chinese army in Hot Spring, Ladakh, India. Since then, Police Memorial Day is celebrated every year on 21st October.

During this, tribute is paid to the soldiers martyred in the last one year.
