Ranchi: In one of the largest cybercrime crackdowns in recent months, Jharkhand Police arrested 57 suspects following a special enforcement drive across the North Chotanagpur zone, officials confirmed on Friday.
Acting on the instructions of Inspector General Sunil Bhaskar, police teams carried out coordinated raids in multiple districts, focusing on mobile numbers flagged through the Pratibimba application. The app provides technical support for tracking and verifying numbers suspected of involvement in cyber fraud.
Police said 15 cybercrime cases were registered between October 2025 and mid-February 2026 after detailed investigation. The accused were allegedly involved in fraud schemes such as fake official calls, ATM and banking scams, OTP fraud and illegal online transactions.
Authorities said the arrests exposed a well-organised cyber fraud network operating across the region. Large quantities of electronic devices, banking instruments, identity documents and cash were recovered, along with vehicles used by the accused.
Officials emphasised that continuous monitoring and intensified action against cybercrime will remain a priority. The public has been urged not to share sensitive banking information or OTPs and to report suspicious activities without delay.
