Ranchi: The preparations for IPL 2025 are in full swing, with the mega auction held on November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 574 players participated in the auction, including 366 Indian and 208 foreign players. Among these, several players from Jharkhand were part of the bidding process. This year, players like Ishan Kishan, Kumar Kushagra, Anukul Roy, and Robin Minz will be seen showcasing their talents in the IPL.
A total of eight players from Jharkhand were included in the auction: Ishan Kishan, Virat Singh, wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Kushagra, Robin Minz, all-rounder Anukul Roy, Utkarsh Singh, fast bowler Sushant Mishra, and leg-spinner Ravi Yadav. However, bids were placed for only four of them.
Ishan Kishan, the big name from the Jharkhand Ranji team, will be playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2025. The player from Nawada was bought for ₹11.25 crores by SRH, despite having a base price of ₹2 crores.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Robin Minz, from Ranchi, was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for ₹65 lakhs, with a base price of ₹30 lakhs. In 2023, he was bought by Gujarat Titans for ₹3.6 crores but was unable to play due to an accident in Ranchi just before the season started.
Kumar Kushagra, the player from Jamshedpur, was bought by Gujarat Titans for ₹65 lakhs, with a base price of ₹30 lakhs. In 2023, he was bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹7.2 crores, but his performance in the previous season was not remarkable.
Anukul Roy, originally from Bihar and part of the Jharkhand Ranji team, will be playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2025. KKR bought him for ₹40 lakhs. This is the first time since 2017 that he will play for a new franchise, after being bought by Mumbai Indians for ₹20 lakhs.
These players’ inclusion in the IPL will enhance the reputation of Jharkhand cricket, and they are all set to prove their worth in the upcoming season.
