Ranchi: Jharkhand’s mini fencing team delivered an impressive performance at the 13th Mini and 7th Child National Fencing Championship held in Nashik from July 5 to 7, securing a total of five medals, including one gold, one silver, and three bronze. When the team returned to Ranchi on Wednesday, they were given a grand welcome at Hatia railway station.
The celebration was led by officials from the Jharkhand Fencing Association, including General Secretary Jai Kumar Sinha, Vice President Dinesh Kumar Singh, and Treasurer Karamveer Oraon. Players were greeted with garlands and sweets, and officials congratulated them while encouraging them for upcoming competitions. The 30-member team comprised young fencers from Ranchi, Ramgarh, and Lohardaga districts.
Among the medallists, Shikat Oraon from Ranchi won gold in the Under-10 sabre event, while Srishti Kumari secured a silver medal in the épée category. Arpan Toppo claimed a bronze in épée, Saras Gadi won bronze in foil, and Ishan earned a bronze in the mini foil event. Team officials expressed pride in the athletes’ achievements, with Jharkhand Fencing Association President Archit Anand and others offering their congratulations and best wishes. Accompanying the team were head coach Ramashish Singh, assistant coach Rohan, and managers Vaijayanti Tigga and Sanjay Khalkho.
