Jharkhand High Court order reserved for 55 days, Hemant Soren reaches Supreme Court

Ranchi:  Hemant Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and accused of money laundering related to land scam, has approached the Supreme Court. He has filed a criminal SLP (Special Leave Petition) in the apex court through his advocate.

In his petition, he has appealed to the court that the Jharkhand High Court, while hearing the petition filed on his behalf, had reserved its decision on February 28. Even after almost 55 days have passed, the High Court has not yet given its decision. Therefore he has taken refuge in the Supreme Court.

Hemant Soren has also sought interim bail from the Supreme Court. Supreme Court advocate on record Pragya Singh Baghel will represent former Chief Minister Hemant Soren Soren. At present this case has not been listed for hearing in the Supreme Court.

The jailed former Chief Minister has also approached the trial court for his bail. Hearing on which is to be held on May 1. Hemant Soren and Bhanu Pratap, a light employee of Bargain area, are currently in judicial custody in Birsa Munda Central Jail. 

After resigning, Hemant Soren was arrested on the night of 31 January in a money laundering case. In the same case, ED has also arrested Officer Ali, Antu Tirkey, Priyaranjan Sahay, Vipin Singh and Irshad.
