Ranchi: Stories rooted in Jharkhand’s culture, traditions and lived experiences could soon find a larger audience on the silver screen. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has assured the state’s filmmakers that the government will extend full support to strengthen the film industry and promote local talent.
On Wednesday, several award-winning filmmakers from Jharkhand met the Chief Minister at the Jharkhand Secretariat to discuss the future of filmmaking in the state. The delegation included Biju Toppo, Seral Murmu, Niranjan Kujur, Ravi Raj Murmu, Anuj Kumar and Man Singh Baske, who shared their ideas on developing the state’s film ecosystem.
Appreciating their contributions, Hemant Soren said Jharkhand’s creative talents have consistently earned recognition at national and international platforms. He noted that filmmakers, artists and storytellers have played a significant role in showcasing the state’s rich cultural identity to a wider audience.
The Chief Minister said the government is committed to helping Jharkhand emerge as a prominent destination for film production. He highlighted plans to improve shooting infrastructure, encourage technical training and create more opportunities for local artists and professionals in the industry.
During the meeting, the filmmakers also proposed measures to transform Jharkhand into a preferred filming destination. They stressed the need to provide better platforms for local talent, strengthen filmmaking infrastructure and bring the state’s untold stories to audiences across the country.
Known for its scenic landscapes, vibrant tribal heritage and unique cultural traditions, Jharkhand has long attracted filmmakers. With closer collaboration between the government and the film fraternity, the state now aims to establish itself not only as a sought-after shooting location but also as a thriving hub for film production.
