Jennifer Lawrence Says She Identifies as a Stay-at-Home Mom

Los Angeles — Actress Jennifer Lawrence has said that despite her Hollywood career, she largely considers herself a stay-at-home mother. Lawrence, who shares a son, Cy, and a second child born last year with her husband, Cooke Maroney, explained that her professional commitments are limited to specific periods such as filming and promotional tours.

Speaking on the SmartLess podcast, the actress said she is only truly busy during movie press cycles. “I identify as a stay-at-home mom. Obviously, I’m working, but I’m not used to being busy like this,” she said. Lawrence added that while filming lasts a few months, her routine remains calm and repetitive, unlike the intense pace of promotional appearances, which she described as hectic.

Lawrence also revealed that she avoids interviews after 9 p.m., as bedtime takes priority. “By then, I’m already in bed. I read on my Kindle until about 9:15, and that’s it,” she said.

The actress shared that she declined a late-night party invitation during the Christmas season, explaining that being hungover while caring for young children is not an option. “You can’t be hungover with a nine-month-old. Even with a three-year-old, it’s just not possible,” she said.

The 35-year-old also spoke candidly about her marriage, saying she and Maroney have learned how to keep their relationship strong despite being “total opposites.” She described her husband as highly organised and structured, particularly when it comes to maintaining the children’s strict daily schedule.

“He’s an anchor. Everything is ordered,” Lawrence said, adding that while she struggles with rigid timing, they have found balance by allowing her a small degree of flexibility. She attributed her challenges with schedules to attention deficit disorder (ADD), joking that she might need occupational therapy to manage it.
