Ranchi: The state government is ready to give its share to the state provided the insurance companies give an affidavit on their behalf State’s agriculture minister Badal said in a meeting with CEO of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana Ritesh Chauhan and representatives of insurance companies at the Nepal House here.
Badal said that the state government has been continuously giving funds to insurance companies since 2015-16 but farmers are not
getting the benefit of insurance in that amount. In such a situation as soon as the affidavit is given by the insurance companies, the state government will immediately release its share. The team from the central government has clearly given instructions to the insurance companies to give the affidavit.
The Minister told the departmental secretary Abubakar Siddique that the Prime Minister should take the initiative to give the amount of state share to the insurance companies related to crop insurance, as soon as the amount of state share and central share is received, the claim amount of the affected farmers will be transferred to their bank accounts. He told the representatives of the Central Government that in order to strengthen the economic condition of the farmers in the state, the long claims of the farmers should be paid by the insurance companies as soon as possible.
Badal said that the Chief Minister is very sensitive towards the Birsa farmers of the state and the schemes are being implemented at the regional level. Badal said that it will be a matter of happiness for the farmers of Jharkhand that they will get the insurance amount soon. He said that insurance companies have agreed to release Rs 811 crore to our farmers. The state government is also ready to give 352 crore state share. Like other states, the support of technology will be taken. By doing this, the premium will also come down.
He said that this is the state of Birsa, whatever cooperation the central government will give in the interest of Birsa farmers, the state government is also ready to work with full readiness. The Chief Minister will be informed in this regard. Also, he said that there were some apprehensions regarding the claim. At that time, except one company, no company had paid the claim. The dispute regarding claims between the insurance companies and the Jharkhand government has been resolved through the meeting. Now the companies have agreed to give affidavits.
All these things will be put before the Chief Minister. Ritesh Chauhan, CEO of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, said that the Government of India is working in the direction of financially empowering the farmers of the entire country. For farmers of Jharkhand who are registered under PM Fasal Bima Yojana and whose claim settlement has not been done from 2017_18 to 2020, payment of claims to those farmers will be ensured soon. As soon as the amount is released by the state government, the insurance companies will pay the pending claims of farmers amounting to Rs 811 crore within 7 days.
He told that the payment to the farmers will be done through the portal and a provision has also been made to impose a penalty on the negligent company. It was also decided that all insurance companies will give an affidavit to the state government. The claims of all the farmers will be paid into their bank accounts within seven days of receiving the amount of central and state share.
The meeting was mainly attended by Agriculture Secretary Abu Bakar Siddiqui, Cooperative Registrar Mrityunjay Varnwal, Joint Secretary Gopal Ji Tiwari, Special Secretary Pradeep Hazare, Assistant Commissioner Sunil Kumar and many officials from the Central Government.
