Innerwheel South inaugurates clock tower at Birsa Munda bus terminal

Ranchi: Innerwheel Ranchi South marked a special occasion today with the inauguration of a clock tower at Birsa Munda bus terminal, Khadgarha. The ribbon was cut by Chairman Rashmi Gupta in the presence of all zone members. The clock tower aims to help travellers keep track of time, especially benefiting those without personal timekeeping devices. This is the first clock tower installed at a public bus stand in the city.

Alongside this, Innerwheel South organized an awareness program to promote a drug-free society. Artists from Bharati Lok Kalyan Sansthan performed a powerful street play highlighting the harmful effects of substances like tobacco, gutkha, and alcohol. The play effectively depicted family conflicts caused by addiction and the dangers of driving under the influence, stressing the risk of accidents. Performers Ravi Kumar, Shiv Ratan, Nirmay, Balay, Mukesh, Poonam, and Basanti captivated the audience with their impactful presentation.

Vice President Ranjana Shukla explained that addiction is a growing social menace destroying families and endangering lives on the roads. She cited a recent tragic incident in Harmu, Ranchi, where a drunk driver caused the death of several family members. The club remains committed to raising public awareness through such initiatives.

Innerwheel South has also taken another innovative step by setting up a breastfeeding room within the bus terminal premises. This facility allows mothers to feed their babies in a safe, comfortable environment without any charge. The organization believes this will support child development by providing an essential and hygienic space for breastfeeding.

On the same day, the club extended support through various social activities, including distributing ration at Mehr Anash Ashram, providing school fees for a meritorious child, and donating funds for the needs of elderly residents at Ramavati Old Age Home. District Commissioner Rashmi Gupta, CGR Navita Prasad, President Neelam, Secretary Annu, former President Kanti Pandey, Sangeet Sharan, and other members were present during the events.
