Ranchi: On the Occasion of Indian Navy Day Celebrations flagging off of a motor rally from Morabadi ground in Ranchi on Sunday.
The rally included 70 bikes, 1 Gypsy, 2 Boleros, 2 trucks and 240 Navy NCC cadets.
Naval defense personnel and retired naval personnel also participated in the road show.
The rally ended at the unit location in Khelgaon Housing Complex. Lieutenant SK Awasthi, Commanding Officer of the Naval Unit, flagged off the rally.
Through this rally the cadets informed the public about the importance of Navy Day and upheld the NCC motto of ‘Unity and Discipline’.
Jharkhand Navy follows the policy of open enrollment for NCC senior cadets and the participating cadets were from different colleges from different districts of Jharkhand.
A painting competition was organized for students and cadets of classes 1 to 10 in Khelgaon.
The theme of the competition was patriotism.
Tug of war competition was organized for NCC cadets in which teams of NCC 1st, 2nd and 3rd year participated.
Prizes for painting and tug of war competitions were distributed.
Prachi, Nadia and Pritamesh were awarded first prizes in their respective children categories.
Cadet Anshika was awarded the first prize in the cadet category.
In recognition of their good performance and dedicated efforts towards NCC, 9 cadets were promoted in rank by the Commanding Officer.
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of the ceremonial Naval Cake followed by a speech by the Commanding Officer.
The Indian Navy celebrates Navy Day every year on 4 December to remember the important and heroic role of the Indian Navy in the 1971 war, in which the Navy bombed the city of Karachi and forced the Pakistani Army to surrender to India.
