Mumbai: Actor Imran Khan has once again thrown his weight behind students protesting over alleged examination irregularities, this time expressing solidarity with the ongoing agitation in Jharkhand.
Taking to social media, Imran posted a black-screen message that read, “Students protesting in Jharkhand. Let’s all ignore them, what could possibly go wrong.” The post appeared to be a sharp, sarcastic criticism of the apparent lack of public and official attention to the students’ grievances.
This is not the first time the actor has spoken up for students. Earlier, he participated in a protest in Mumbai held in support of students demanding fair and transparent examination and education systems.
The Mumbai demonstration was organised in solidarity with the protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, where students and activists had demanded accountability over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and called for the resignation of the then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who later stepped down from the post.
Meanwhile, the protests in Jharkhand continue to gather momentum. Thousands of job aspirants have been demonstrating in Ranchi, seeking a comprehensive CBI probe into alleged corruption, paper leaks and other irregularities linked to the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination and the JSSC-CGL recruitment process.
On Tuesday, actor Sonakshi Sinha also voiced concern over the issue. Sharing a video on her Instagram Stories explaining the students’ demands, she wrote, “It’s so disheartening to see students of our country go through this… when will it stop???”
