Ranchi: There is a possibility of a storm in Eastern India in the next 48 hours.
Several coastal areas have been put on alert amid the low pressure area over south-east Bay of Bengal and adjacent South Andaman Sea.
After the cyclonic storm ‘Midhili’ that hit the northeastern states, now another storm is increasing in the Bay of Bengal.
Due to this, the Meteorological Department said that another cyclonic storm is about to come.
This will be the fourth storm of this year, and it is likely to leave its impact in India, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
The cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal has been named ‘Maichong’.
The depression over south-east and adjoining south-west Bay of Bengal has moved towards north-west with a speed of 10 km per hour during the last 03 hours.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards, intensify into a deep depression by 2 December and intensify into a cyclonic storm over the south-west Bay of Bengal around 3 December.
Subsequently, it will move north-westwards and cross south Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu coasts between Chennai and Machilipatnam as a cyclonic storm around the evening of 4 December.
Abhishek Anand, scientist of Meteorological Center, Ranchi, said that this storm will have a mild impact in Jharkhand.
There is a possibility of light rain in some districts from 4 to 6 December.
There are chances of cloudy weather in the state during this period.
