IMD issues thundershowers and lightning alert

Ranchi: The local Met Centre has again issued an alert for light to moderate thundershowers and lightning over Jharkhand. 

Weathermen said a Western Disturbance is a trough in mid and upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level was triggering thundershowers accompanied by lightning at several places across the state for the last two days. 

The system is going to impact Jharkhand resulting in thundershowers at several places. We have issued an alert in this regard,” said Abhishek Anand head of Ranchi Met Centre.

The Met Office also issued an appeal asking people not to take shelter under trees during thundershowers and lightning.

Several places across Jharkhand saw lightning deaths during the past two days. Lightning had claimed two lives at Potka block in East Singhbhum, about 30 Km away from Jamshedpur.
