Hemant Soren, Speaker and others express grief over Odisha Train accident

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday expressed his grief over the death of 288 people in a triple train accident at Balasore district about 200 Kms from Odisha. CM Soren wished the speedy recovery of the wounded and the victims of the train collision.

Soren wrote in a Twitter message that, “I am deeply pained by the heartbreaking Coromandel Express train accident near Bahanga Railway Station in Balasore district of Odisha. May God give peace to departed souls and strength to bereaved family members to bear these extremely difficult hours of grief. I wish a speedy recovery to the wounded and victims of the accident.” At least 288 people were killed and more than 900 injured in the worst train collision in the history of the Indian Railway.

The National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) team reached the incident site and started a rescue operation following the crash of the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express and a Goods train collided at Balasore district of Odisha on Friday evening. 

Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahato also extended his grief and sorrow over the death of 288 people in the train collision in the Balasore district of Odisha. He said, “In this horrific train accident I extend my grief to the victims of the collision, after rising the number of deaths I am a bit tensed. May God bless peace to the departed soul and I wish speedy recovery of the wounded persons.”

Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) President Rajesh Thakur said that, “Entire Congress Family stands with the victims of train collision.” He said, “In future, this type of incident should not be repeated.” Thakur added, that “The Union Government should take serious action against the officials from Railway Board and Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav should take responsibility of this horrific train collision.”
