Health dept warns of action against private labs for charging more for rapid antigen test

Ranchi: Principal Secretary of the Health Department Nitin Madan Kulkarni has issued an order on Monday as per which it has been clearly stated that private laboratories would not charge more than Rs 550 for performing a Coronavirus test through the use of a rapid antigen test kit.

The order further said that all the symptomatic patients who have tested negative under rapid antigen test would have to undergo tests by RT-PCR over which the concerned Civil Surgeon of the area would keep an eye.

As per the order, if the private laboratories are found charging more than Rs 550 for performing the Coronavirus test using rapid antigen test kits than it would be considered a violation of the provisions of Jharkhand State Epidemic Diseases (Covid-19) Regulation 2000 and as per the rules, necessary action would be taken against such labs.
