Ranchi: The state health department has expressed strong displeasure over repeated delays in the 108 ambulance service and the resulting inconvenience faced by patients. Taking serious note of the situation, the Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare has decided to implement live video monitoring and real-time tracking of ambulance locations to ensure timely response.
Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday and reprimanded Samman Foundation, the agency operating the ambulance service, for its poor performance. He stressed that ambulances must reach patients without delay and underlined the critical role of timely medical transport in saving lives.
Corporation MD Abu Imran, NHM MD Shashi Prakash Jha, and other senior officials attended the meeting. Singh made it clear that service quality must be of the highest standard and that no patient should suffer due to negligence. He warned the agency that any future reports of delay or carelessness would invite strict legal action.
The department has also instructed Dr. Pankaj, who oversees the 108 ambulance operations, to review live video footage of at least ten ambulances every day and closely monitor their location and deployment status.
