Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday took suo moto cognizance of the game of money in the building plan approvals in the municipal bodies of the state.
The development took place in a division bench headed by Justice S Chandrashekhar after a report published in a Hindi daily came to his notice.
The news informed how the municipal bodies illegally collect Rs 20 to Rs 30 feet per square foot extra for approving building plans. The high court directed to tag the matter with LPA 132/2012 and decided to hear the matter in length on December 1.
The court sought information from the advocates of Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA) and Ranchi Municipal Corporation in the matter. It also directed advocate general Rajeev Ranjan to remain present during the next hearing.
