GST 2.0 Wins Praise in Hazaribagh: ‘A Historic Gift Before Festivals’

Hazaribagh — From shopkeepers to consumers, people across Hazaribagh have hailed the Centre’s new GST 2.0 framework, saying it will ease household budgets and revive business sentiment.

The new structure lowers tax rates on daily-use goods like soap, shampoo, footwear, medicines, motorcycles, and small cars, while retaining a higher slab of 40% for luxury and sin items. For ordinary families, this means essentials will cost less, putting more money in hand during the festive season.

Calling the decision “historic,” members of the local Chamber of Commerce thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving relief at a time when inflation has been biting. “This move will inject fresh momentum into the market,” said Rakesh Thakur, adding that both demand and small businesses will benefit.

Residents like Labbu Gupta and businessmen such as Abhinav Kumar stressed that GST cuts would boost purchasing power, improve retail demand, and ease the strain on household budgets. Many see it as a timely reform that not only simplifies taxation but also sets the stage for stronger economic growth.

The new GST rates will come into effect from September 22.
