Grandfather and grandson had come to see a herd of elephants, crushed to death

Jamtara: Seeing a herd of elephants proved costly.Two were crushed to death by elephants. A group of 28 wild elephants on Monday crushed two people to death in Bankhanjo village of Narayanpur zone of Jamtara district.

The dead include a middle-aged man and a 7-year-old child. Both the deceased are said to be grandfather and grandson, who had reached Bankhanjo from their home to see the elephants. 

According to Sources, both the deceased are said to be residents of Gandey police station area of Giridih district. The forest department team is present on the spot and is trying to drive away the elephants. There was a crowd of people gathered at the spot, to whom the forest department people are continuously appealing to move away from there. There is panic among the villagers due to the arrival of a group of wild elephants in the area.
