Govt trying to unearth hidden sports talents: Hemant Soren

Simdega: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that through sports the government was trying to ensure all round development of the state therefore in this year’s budget special focus has been accorded on tourism and sports sector.

Addressing the people after inaugurating the 11th Hockey India women sub junior hockey tournament at SS Girls High School here on Wednesday he said that the government will provide all necessary help to the players. The Chief Minister also interacted with the players of the participating teams and encouraged them.

The Chief Minister said that it was a memorable day for Simdega and hockey lovers of the area as a national level tournament has been organised in the district which will encourage sports and players.

The Chief Minister said that from the backward areas of Simdega, Khunti and Simdega dozens of international hockey players have come out and in Simdega district alone four than four dozen players have represented the country. He said that from Karanggudi village three players have been included in the Indian team.

Hemant Soren said that the entire state was proud of the achievements of the players of the area. He said that hockey lives in the heart of the people of the area and it was breeding ground for hockey players.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is making efforts for encouraging the sports and sportsmen and for development of sports district sports officers have been appointed. On the other hand players are being appointed in government jobs and soon 39 players will be getting the benefits.

The Chief Minister announced that all the players who have come to play in the tournament will be taken around for visiting the places of tourists interests in the area.

Those present also included MLAs Bhushan Bada, Naman Vixcel Kongadi, Sports Secretary Pooja Singhal, President Hockey India Gyanendro Nigambam.
