Ranchi: JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya has expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Hemant Soren for his leadership in the fourth consecutive term. He praised the Chief Minister for the strong performance of the state cabinet, which is focused on advancing Jharkhand for the next five years.
At a press conference on Saturday, Bhattacharya emphasized the government’s commitment to bringing services to the people. Under the “Government at Your Doorstep” initiative, the government has deployed police station in-charges, tehsildars, block development officers (BDOs), supply officers, and rural healthcare doctors to directly engage with the public in various villages. Ministers, too, will be taking on the responsibility of visiting districts and interacting directly with the people to address their issues. Bhattacharya stressed that the priority is to serve the people with honesty, and this initiative should be seen as a step toward strengthening governance, not through a political lens.
He also highlighted the cabinet’s diverse composition, noting that it now includes significant representation from Other Backward Classes (OBC) and tribal communities, which have traditionally been underrepresented. Bhattacharya pointed out that this government is focused on the development and well-being of all sections of society, ensuring that every community benefits from governance.
Bhattacharya criticized the opposition BJP for undermining democracy. He referred to a recent incident in the Rajya Sabha where the opposition raised issues related to the farmer protests, while the ruling party allegedly attempted to suppress the debate by creating false narratives. He condemned such actions and reaffirmed that the JMM-led government is committed to upholding democratic values and the rights of the people.
Discussing development projects, Bhattacharya noted that the state is facing attempts to block key initiatives, such as projects worth Rs 4,000 crore. However, he assured that the government is fully aware of these challenges and remains focused on the state’s progress.
Looking ahead, Bhattacharya emphasized that the cabinet would focus on fulfilling the promises made in the party’s manifesto, ensuring that schemes and decisions benefit the public. He expressed confidence that the ongoing legislative session would witness further positive developments.
In conclusion, Bhattacharya responded to queries about the opposition’s leadership, stating that JMM is prepared for any developments. He mentioned that if Hemant Vishwa Sharma from Assam were to join the opposition as its leader, the JMM would welcome him. However, he made it clear that the JMM’s focus would remain on development and serving the people of Jharkhand.
