Govt offers Rs 10 lakh for creators making reels on tourism, culture

Ranchi: In a unique initiative to promote tourism and showcase the cultural richness of the state, the Jharkhand government has announced a scheme offering up to Rs 10 lakh to digital content creators who make engaging and impactful reels. The move aims to bring national attention to Jharkhand’s scenic landscapes, tribal traditions, festivals, and lesser-known tourist destinations through the power of social media.

Under this scheme, social media influencers, YouTubers, and content creators from across the country are encouraged to participate. Any creator who produces a new, interesting, and positive reel featuring one of Jharkhand’s listed tourist spots will be considered for the award. However, only one creator will receive the Rs 10 lakh prize each year. The content must reflect the authentic beauty, culture, and spirit of Jharkhand. It should not contain any misleading, negative, or false information; doing so could lead to disqualification or further action. While the government will retain the right to use the content, full credit will be given to the creator.

The state has identified 528 tourist destinations for this campaign, spread across four categories. These include locations such as Netarhat’s serene hills, Hazaribagh and Betla National Parks, the Baidyanath Dham and Trikut Hills in Deoghar, and spiritual and cultural heritage sites like Rajrappa, the Maluti temples, Parasnath, Lugu Buru, and McCluskieganj. Creators can also focus their reels on tribal festivals like Sarhul, Karma, and Sohrai, which reflect the vibrant traditions of the state.

To support participants, the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDCL) will provide two days of free accommodation at its hotels, travel arrangements through government vehicles, and assistance from the forest department and eco-tourism authorities. The initiative also seeks to engage rural communities, offering local youth employment opportunities and contributing to the economic development of villages.

The campaign presents a creative and meaningful opportunity for content creators to tell powerful stories, while helping Jharkhand shine on the national and global stage. All that’s needed is a camera, an eye for storytelling, and a passion to explore and present the true essence of Jharkhand to the world.
