Ranchi: Governor and Chancellor Santosh Kumar Gangwar has adopted a strict stance regarding teacher attendance at universities and colleges. He informed that the Raj Bhavan has issued directives to all Vice-Chancellors, instructing professors to be present on time and take regular classes. The responsibility of monitoring this system has been assigned to the Vice-Chancellors.
The Governor also mentioned that a letter has been sent to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) for the appointment of professors. This decision comes after complaints from students of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi, who had informed that permanent professors were not taking regular classes. In response, the Raj Bhavan has directed the strict implementation of the academic calendar. Gangwar further stated that 40-50% of teacher positions in the state’s universities are vacant, with approximately 2,420 assistant professors needed.
Speaking on the state’s economic growth, the Governor highlighted that Jharkhand has significant potential but is still lagging behind. He emphasized, “Jharkhand will be considered truly developed when it ranks among the leading states of the country.” He also spoke about the need to develop Baba Dham in Deoghar on the lines of Kashi Vishwanath and stressed the need to enhance facilities at the state’s tourist destinations.
Governor Gangwar also discussed his working style, stating that he prioritizes public relations and is always available to listen to the common people’s issues. This has led people to refer to him as the ‘People’s Governor.’ He clarified that he stays away from party politics, focusing on fulfilling his constitutional duties and working towards delivering welfare schemes from both the central and state governments to the people.
Reacting to Operation Sindoor, the Governor praised the steps taken by India, stating, “The people of the country expected such decisive actions. After the Pahalgam attack, India precisely targeted the terrorist hideouts, which is commendable. We are proud of our brave soldiers.” He added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already stated that terrorists would face punishment beyond their imagination.” He further asserted, “India never initiates conflict, but if anyone provokes us, we don’t hesitate to retaliate. This is the land of heroes, and every citizen should stand with the army in the fight against terrorism.”
