Governor, CM lead Jharkhand in paying tribute to Dr Ambedkar

Ranchi — The 135th birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar was observed across Jharkhand with deep respect, as leaders and citizens paid tribute to the iconic reformer and Constitution-maker.

In the state capital Ranchi, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren garlanded Babasaheb’s statue at Ambedkar Chowk in Doranda and offered floral tributes.

Addressing the occasion, the Governor said Dr Ambedkar’s role went far beyond drafting the Constitution—he was a champion of social justice who dedicated his life to uplifting the marginalised. He highlighted how Babasaheb rose above difficult circumstances through education and perseverance, inspiring generations to believe in equality and self-respect. Emphasising the need to carry forward his legacy, he urged people to adopt his ideals in their daily lives.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren also paid homage, stating that the India we see today is deeply shaped by Dr Ambedkar’s vision and contributions. He said Babasaheb’s work continues to inspire not just the country but people across the world, and his principles remain relevant even today.

Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji and MLA Kalpana Soren joined the tributes, along with several senior administrative officials.

Across Jharkhand, the occasion was marked by seminars, cultural programmes, and public gatherings, where people remembered Dr Ambedkar and reaffirmed their commitment to his ideals of equality, justice, and social harmony.
