Government committed to provide better future to sports and sportsmen: Hemant

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday said that the state which is known for its mineral wealth has also immense potential in the area of sports, therefore, the government was taking all possible steps to develop sports and sportsmen of the state.

Speaking after inaugurating the new website of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department and also the Jharkhand Sportsperson Registration Portal he said that it is important to undertake the mapping of the athletes to take the sports forward therefore database portal had been prepared which would contain the entire details of the sportspersons so that talented athletes can be identified and they can be provided high-level training.

The Chief Minister said that since the creation of the state not a single major scheme was launched to encourage the players but his government decided to give the deserving rights and honour to the players. He said that Jharkhand is also known for its sports talent therefore all necessary help would be provided to the prayers. He expressed concern that despite many players making a name for themselves at the national and international level they are living in poverty but now things would change and all necessary help would be given to them.

The Chief Minister said that in a month 32 players would be given direct recruitment. He said that for the first time since the creation of state district sports officials have been appointed who are now contributing to the development of sports in their respective districts. He said that for players who would get injured during playing the government would be looking after them.

Hemant Soren said that under the Shaheed Poto Ho Scheme grounds at panchayat level are being constructed and at the block level, talented athletes would be identified and given training. He also urged the players to register their details on the portal of the sports department moreover through this portal the players would be also able to know about the schemes which would be launched for them.

Those present on the occasion included Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajeev Arun Ekka, Sports Secretary Pooja Singhal etc.
