Five members of a family murdered in Gumla

Gumla: Five members of a family were found murdered inside a house located at Burhatu Aam Toli under Kamdara Police Station area of this district on Wednesday.

The deceased included mother, father, son, daughter in law and grand son. All of them were beaten with rods and sticks and later they were hacked to death. Gumla SP HP Janardhanan has confirmed the incident and he himself has reached on the spot.

The deceased included Nikudin Toppo (55) his wife Josphina Toppo (45), their son Winset Toppo (35), daughter in law Silwanti Toppo (30) and grand son Ashawin Toppo (5). The villagers came to know about the incident in the morning when they they came out of their homes and saw the body of Josphina near the main door of the house.

The body of Nikudin was found from one room while that of his son’s family was found from another room. Villagers said that after seeing the body they came to knew about the incident.

Police quoting villagers said that family was very simple and did not have any dispute with anyone. They were involved in agriculture. Police later called a dog squad on the spot.

Initially it is being suspected that the incident took place due to land dispute.
