Ranchi – At least five people lost their lives and 15 others were injured in three separate road accidents across Jharkhand on Wednesday, amid ongoing monsoon rains, officials reported.
In Dhanbad district, two youths died when their motorcycle collided with a truck near the Kamalpur forest area under the Tundi police station around noon.
Preliminary reports suggest that the bike skidded on a rain-soaked road, causing the rider to lose control before being struck by an oncoming truck. Tundi SHO Umashankar and his team rushed to the scene and transported the victims to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival. Their identities have yet to be confirmed. The bodies have been sent to Dhanbad Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
In a separate incident, a passenger bus hit a divider on National Highway 33 under the Dhalbhumgarh police station jurisdiction in East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) district around 1 p.m. One person died at the scene, and approximately 15 passengers were injured. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In a third accident, a motorcyclist, identified as Aman Kumar from the Ghorabandha area, was fatally hit by an unidentified vehicle near MTC in Jamshedpur’s Telco locality on Wednesday morning. He succumbed to his injuries, and his body was sent for post-mortem.
In another fatal incident in Bokaro district, a pedestrian named Ajay Singh was crushed to death by a truck near Balidih Chowk under the Balidih police station. He died on the spot. Police have seized the vehicle involved.
The accident in Bokaro triggered public outrage, prompting locals to block the road near Balidih Chowk for nearly an hour. The blockade was lifted following police intervention and assurances of appropriate action.
