Ranchi: Ranchi Police on Friday claimed to have cracked the theft which had taken place inside a jewellery shop located under Doranda Police Station area of the state capital two days earlier. In this connection, five thieves have been arrested and jewellery worth Rs 62 lakh has been recovered. On the basis of input provided by the arrested the gas cutter, oxygen cylinder and a goods carrying autorickshaw have been recovered.
Briefing the press on Friday Ranchi SSP SK Jha said that post the incident a team under City SP was constituted to crack the case. From the arrested 800 grams of gold jewellery, 23 grams silver, bike and other items have been recovered. On the night of January 11 thieves had managed to break inside a jewel shop and managed to decamp with gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 62 lakh. The SP said that the same group of miscreants on January 10 had looted a bike of a policeman on a knife at Dibdih overbridge.
