FIR registered against 50 villagers after deer killed and consumed in a village of Saraikela

Saraikela: A wild deer who had strayed into the human population was killed by villagers of Kandagoda located under Saraikela block of this district who later feasted upon its meat by organising a community feast.

The incident had taken place on Sunday itself however as the incident of deer being killed went viral the teams of the forest department and local police station swung into action and in this case an fir against against three named accused and 50 others was registered.

Forest officer of Saraikela area Pramod Kumar has registered a fir against the Gram Pradhan Pandit Hembrom, Sadhu Charan Purty and Borjo Purty and 50 other unnamed people.

The villagers chased the deer and injured him by attacking with stones and after the animal got tired they caught him and later he was tied up with a tree in the orchard of the Gram Pradhan and cut into pieces and the villagers ate its meat as part of community feast.

The villagers did try to remove all the evidence after the incident got out on social media but police managed to recover some meat samples after which further action was initiated.
