Ranchi: JMM’s Yuva Morcha president Basant Soren on Thursday was officially declared as the party nominee for the bypolls on Dumka seat of Jharkhand Assembly.
Addressing a press conference party general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said that Basant Soren would be filing his nominations on October 12 during which Chief Minister Hemant Soren and many other senior leaders of the party would be participating.
He said that after intellectuals and the party workers of Dumka made a request it was decided to give a ticket to Basant Soren as people of the area want that to keep the seat with Shibu Soren it is important that Basant contested from the seat. He also urged the alliance partners to extend full cooperation so that Basant Soren can register a historic win.
Bhattacharya also condemned the gang-rape incident of Hathras Uttar Pradesh and said that such atrocities committed with a Dalit is a matter of shame for the entire country. He said that data points that since the Yogi government has come to power in Uttar Pradesh crime has increased in that state.
The JMM leader said that to protest against the incident members of Mahila Morcha if the party would stage one day fast before the statue of Gandhiji at Morhabadi. To a query, he said that talks were on over seat-sharing for Bihar Assembly Elections.
