Ranchi: District Transport Officer Praveen Kumar Prakash and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Jeetvahan Oraon and the Traffic Department conducted a joint drive at the Karam Toli Chowk of the capital. During the drive checking was done against vehicles unauthorizedly using indicator boards / plates (name plates) and those driving without mask.
Along with this, about hundreds of vehicles were checked for other vehicle-related documents like pollution certificate, insurance, license etc. In the drive, action was taken against the vehicles using the name plates of dozens of vehicles unauthorizedly and penalty fee was collected under Section 179 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
A total penalty of Rs 1,77,150.00 was collected from 21 vehicles. Along with this, strict instructions were given to all the auto drivers not to seat more people than their capacity and use masks and also sanitize their hands. All bus owners are also requested to follow the guideline given by the Transport Department in view of the Covid. Strict action will be taken against those who do not comply.
The Bus drivers / assistants / passengers were requested to wear masks, sanitize vehicles before starting the journey, take passengers according to the prescribed seats in the vehicles, follow social distancing while boarding and alighting the vehicle, do not consume smoking/paan/gutkha/tobacco during the journey. It was informed by the District Transport Officer that the above action would be taken regularly from time to time. He also urged everyone that all motor vehicle drivers / owners should comply with
the government notification and everyone is requested to use mask along with helmet while driving.
