Doctors of the state may go on strike from Friday, emergency will be functional

Ranchi: Doctors working in government and private hospitals in Jharkhand can go on strike from Friday. There are 12 thousand doctors who will not provide treatment. This decision has been taken by IMA. This decision has been taken in protest against the assault on doctors at Jamshedpur Medical College and the government’s lax attitude towards the Medical Protection Bill.

In fact, on September 19, Dr. Kamlesh Oraon, a PG medical student working in the PICU ward of Jamshedpur Medical College, was assaulted. In protest against this, the doctors have taken the decision to move on strike.

Dr. Pradeep Singh, Secretary of Jharkhand State IMA, says that every day doctors are being beaten up alleging negligence in treatment. The same thing happened in MGM. Now incidents of assault on doctors will not be tolerated. If the police do not arrest the people involved in the assault on Dr. Kamlesh by Thursday, then the doctors will go on strike. Jharkhand State Health Services Association (JHASA), Junior Doctors Association and private doctors are supporting this strike.

In fact, on the night of 19 September, a girl was undergoing treatment in the PICU ward of Jamshedpur Medical College. That girl died around 2 o’clock in the night. PG medical student Dr. Kamlesh Oraon was on duty here. The family members and other people beat up the doctor, alleging that the doctor was negligent in treating the girl as the reason for her death. The doctor alleges that angry family members and other people entered the doctor’s room and attacked him. Whose video has also been released.

IMA Secretary Dr Pradeep Singh says that if the police do not arrest the accused till September 21, then from September 22, more than 12 thousand doctors across Jharkhand will not provide treatment. Will go on indefinite strike. During this period only emergency services will continue.

According to IMA, patients will not be seen in all the medical colleges, sadar hospitals and private clinics and hospitals of the state including RIMS. IMA President Dr Arun Kumar Singh said that two days have passed since the incident, but the culprits have not been caught. Doctors say that the video footage of the assault is with the administration. Despite this, no action has been taken yet against the guilty persons. This is a failure of the administration.

The demands of the doctors are- All the culprits should be arrested immediately and strict punishment should be given as per law, the deputation administrative officer should be removed from all medical colleges, the authority to oversee the medical college should rest with the director, superintendent and dean.
