Ranchi: Anurag Gupta, Director General of Police (DGP), conducted a review meeting with the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FJCCI) to discuss law and order preparedness and crime prevention during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals. The meeting took place on October 13, 2025, at the Police Headquarters, Ranchi, and was also attended via video conferencing.
During the meeting, the DGP instructed all District Superintendents of Police to ensure 24×7 deployment of officers and police personnel at district control rooms to maintain peace and order. Special focus was laid on preventing thefts and snatching incidents during Dhanteras, deploying fire-fighting vehicles at sensitive locations for Diwali, and ensuring the security of all Chhath ghats, including rivers, ponds, and dams. He also emphasized strict action against criminals involved in illicit liquor and drug trade, and deployment of plainclothes police at crowded areas.
Police officers were directed to coordinate with local Chambers of Commerce regularly, addressing their security concerns, forming Residential Welfare Committees in residential areas, and verifying the personnel working in offices, residences, and commercial establishments. They were also instructed to ensure CCTV installation in homes, offices, ATM surroundings, banks, crowded areas, and parking zones to enhance public safety.
The meeting saw the participation of senior police officials including Shri Mayur Patel, Inspector General of Police (Provision), Jharkhand; Shri Manoj Ratan Chautha, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Vita), Jharkhand; Shri Anuranjan Kispotta, DIG, Kolhan; and Shri Arbind Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Vita). From the FJCCI, Shri Aditya Malhotra (President), Shri Praveen Lohia (Vice President), Shri Ram Bangad (Vice President), Shri Rohit Agrawal (Secretary), Shri Navjot Alang Rubal (Joint Secretary), Shri Rohit Poddar (Joint Secretary), and Shri Anil Agrawal (Treasurer) attended physically, along with other chamber representatives via video conferencing.
The meeting underscored a coordinated approach between the police and the business community to ensure safety, security, and smooth conduct of festivals across the state.
