DGP hands over reward to security personnel in killing of four Maoists

Khunti/Ranchi, Nov 1: Four ultras belonging to the People’s Liberation Front of India including an area commander of the outfit who was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head was spot dead by the Khunti Police in an encounter in Palsa forest area located under the bordering areas of Lapung and Kara police station area of the Khunti district.

 

Jharkhand DGP D K Pandey who also reached on the spot and patted the police personnel for their heroics and also handed over them a reward of Rs 4 lakh. The DGP said that Jharkhand Police was committed to wipe out PLFI from the state and would soon also kill organisation supremo Dinesh Gope if he did not surrender.

 

Apart from the DGP, others who were also present on the occasion included CRPF IG Sanjay Latkar, IG STF RK Dhan, IG operations Ashish Batra and Ranchi Range DIG Amol V Homkar.

 

Police sources said that late Tuesday night a group of seven ultras of the PLFI reached in the area on couple of motorcyles and a scooty. Upon seeing the police the ultras started firing upon which the police retaliated in which four of them were killed while another three managed to flee from the spot.

 

Upon receiving information Khunti SP Ashwini Kumar alongwith ASP Anurag Raj reached on the spot with additional force. Meanwhile Ranchi Range DIG Amol V Homkar said that the killed ultras have been identified as area commander Maina Gope, Pancham Oraon, Ajit Horo and Vijay Aind. An insas rifle, a double barrel gun and a pistol were recovered from the dead ultras alongwith several live cartridges.
