Deoghar: The district administration has decided to intensify its crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, with Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania directing excise officials to strengthen monitoring and enforcement measures across the district.
The directives were issued during a review meeting of the Excise Department held at the Collectorate on Monday. The meeting focused on the department’s performance, revenue collection, and law-and-order issues related to liquor sales and distribution.
Reviewing the functioning of licensed establishments, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to carry out regular inspections of bars and restaurants operating in the district. He also ordered continuous monitoring of retail liquor outlets to ensure that alcoholic beverages are sold strictly at the prescribed Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
Warning against violations, the Deputy Commissioner said that strict action would be taken against anyone found flouting excise regulations.
To enhance transparency and security, he directed that CCTV cameras installed at liquor shops remain functional at all times. Officials were also asked to step up enforcement efforts by conducting extensive raids and inspections to curb the manufacture, sale, and transportation of illicit liquor.
Emphasizing the administration’s priorities, the Deputy Commissioner stated that while revenue generation through the Excise Department is important, maintaining law and order remains equally critical. He called for sustained and stringent action against all forms of illegal liquor activities in the district.
The meeting was attended by the Excise Superintendent, District Planning Officer, Assistant Public Relations Officer, and other departmental officials and staff members.
