Ranchi, Apr 22: Demanding ST status under the banner of Kurmi Vikas Morcha a state wide bandh has been called in the state on April 23.
On the evening of prior to the bandh a torch light procession was taken in the state capital from the Jaipal Singh Stadium to Albert Ekka Chowk. Central spokesperson of the Morcha Omprakash Mahto said that in the entire state members of the Kurmi community would be participating in the bandh programme.
He said that the the culture, art and life style of the people of the community was similar to that of the STs therefore this community should be made part of the ST community. He said that essential services have been kept away from the ambit of bandh. He said that medical stores, ambulances and press media have been kept free from bandh.
