Ranchi: In preparation for the upcoming Chhath festival, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri, along with Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan, conducted a comprehensive inspection of major Chhath ghats across the city. The visit aimed to ensure all arrangements related to safety, sanitation, lighting, and crowd management are in place ahead of the festival.
The administrative team visited key locations including Kanke Dam, Hatnia Talab, Chadri Talab, Bada Talab (Ranchi Lake), and Dhurwa Dam. During the on-site inspection, officials were directed to prioritize public convenience and maintain strict safety protocols.
DC Bhajantri emphasized that police personnel along with SDRF and NDRF teams must be deployed at all major ghats. Instructions were given for installation of safety barricades, presence of trained divers, and activation of control rooms at all locations. He appealed to devotees to enter water only up to safe depths, urging them to observe personal caution along with following official guidelines.
Special attention is being paid to sanitation and lighting at the ghats. Ranchi Municipal Corporation has been instructed to complete cleaning, garbage disposal, and mud removal well in advance. The electricity department has also been asked to ensure adequate permanent and temporary lighting so that devotees face no inconvenience during the evening and morning rituals.
The Deputy Commissioner interacted with members of various Chhath Puja committees during the inspection. He reviewed local preparations and urged committees to cooperate closely with district officials. He stated that with mutual coordination, this festival of faith will be celebrated in a safe, clean, and peaceful environment.
To address medical emergencies, the Civil Surgeon has been directed to station ambulances and medical teams at all major ghats.
The inspection was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Rajeshwarnath Alok, Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer Utkarsh Kumar, Traffic SP Rakesh Singh, District Information Officer Urvashi Pandey, and officials from the municipal corporation, road construction, electricity, PHED, and other departments.
DC Bhajantri assured that all departments are working in coordination, but public awareness and cooperation remain equally vital for smooth conduct of Chhath Mahaparv.
