Counting for bypolls: 18 Rounds in Dumka and 17 in Bermo

Ranchi: The counting of votes for the bypolls on two seats of Jharkhand Assembly including Dumka (ST) and Bermo would be held on Tuesday from 8 AM.

All preparations for the counting has been completed at the two places. From 6 AM the personnel involved in the counting process would start entering into the halls. A total of 18 rounds of counting would be held in Dumka while in Bermo 17 rounds would be held.

The voting on these two seats was held on November 3. While Dumka had witnessed a voter turnout of 65.27 percent, the average voter turnout in Bermo was 60.20 percent. However, compared to 2019 the overall turnout was on a lower side.

In Dumka it is a direct fight between Basant Soren of the JMM and Dr Lois Marandi of BJP while in Bermo Jaimangal Singh of Congress was battling against Yogeshwar Mahto Batul of BJP.

The bypolls on these two seats was necessitated as Chief Minister Hemant Soren who had won from both Dumka and Barhet seats resigned from Dumka and took oath as the member of the house from Barhet while Beemo fell vacant following the demise of Congress heavy weight leader Rajendra Singh.
