Corona Mayhem in Jharkhand: Previous records shattered as a staggering 686 cases detected in single day, overall count at 9,563, Ranchi records 231 fresh patients

Ranchi: All previous records were shattered as far as the number of patients who have been detected positive in a single day for Covid-19 in the state was concerned as a staggering number of 686 cases were detected across the 21 districts of Jharkhand on Tuesday following which overall tally has now reached to 9,563.

Tuesday also turned out to be the first occasion when more than 200 hundred cases have been detected in one district (Ranchi) and more than 100 in another district (Palamu).

During the day 1 death was reported from Hazaribagh after which the overall death count has gone up to 94 in the state. The increase in fatalities has increased the mortality rate to 0.98 percent.

As per the data provided by the health department the number of active cases in the state was 4,458 while the number of cured and discharged cases stood at 3,984. The total number of death caused by Coronavirus in the state stood at 94.

During the day a maximum number of 231 cases were reported in Ranchi followed by 121 in Gumla district. In Giridih 82 cases were found, 65 in Hazaribagh, 47 in Simdega and another 42 in Koderma. 17 cases were also found in Pakur, 12 each in Chatra and Garhwa districts, 9 in Gumla, 8 each in East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum districts, 6 in Lohardaga and 5 each in Khunti and Saraikela districts.

Further 4 cases in Jamtara, 3 each in Bokaro, Dhanbad and Ramgarh districts, 2 in Godda and 1 in Dumka were also found during the day. Deoghar, Latehar and Sahebganj turned out to be the only three districts where no cases were found during the day.

On Tuesday a total of 179 people were cured and discharged from various dedicated Covid-19 facilities in the state including 59 from Ranchi followed by 39 from Sahebganj. 22 patients from Dhanbad, 15 from East Singhbhum, 13 each from West Singhbhum and Giridih districts,  4 each from Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Simdega and Khunti districts and 2 from Jamtara also defeated Coronavirus and returned back to their homes.

Due to the rampant rise in Coronavirus cases across the state the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients has plummeted further to 41.66 percent in Jharkhand. So far in the state 2,82,415 samples have been collected out of which 2,72,713 have been tested and 2,63,150 have turned out to be negative.

The data further pointed out that the number of travellers under surveillance and asymptomatic was at 5,596 while people who have completed 28 days of compulsory observation stood at 4,333. The number of people in facility quarantine was at 5,884 while those in home quarantine was 2,43,061.
