Ranchi: State Congress President Rajesh Thakur has accused the Modi government of the Center and the BJP of ignoring the families of Covid-19 victims. Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here he said that it is clearly written in the National Disaster Management Rules that at the time of any calamity or epidemic, a compensation of Rs 4 lakh will be given to the victims. In 4 lakhs, 75 percent i.e. Rs 3 lakh has to be given to the central and 25 percent i.e. Rs 1 lakh to the state governments respectively.
In this episode, Congress, an ally of the ruling government of the state, has written a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren on November 25. It has been said that the government should deposit Rs 1 lakh of its share so that pressure can be put on the Center to give 4 lakh compensation to the victims, Thakur said. The State President said that there is a clear instruction in the Disaster Rules to provide relief to the victims but contrary to this rule, the Modi government is telling today to give Rs 50,000 to the families of Covid victims.
He said that on one hand, the Modi government waives Rs 68,000 crore of its 50 defaulting capitalist friends and Rs 7.95 lakh crore of loans. Similarly, Rs 20,000 crore is ready to be spent for making Central Vista. but on Covid does not want to give financial help of Rs 4 lakh to the affected families. Describing the public awareness campaign of the Congress party as successful, Rajesh Thakur said that earlier this campaign was till November 29, which has now been extended till December 30. He said that It was seen that there is tremendous resentment among the people against the BJP due to inflation.
In view of this displeasure, on the birth anniversary of former PM Indira Gandhi, the central government withdrew all three agricultural laws. It is clear from this that now the people of the country are not going to be trapped by unrestrained statements he said adding that State Congress workers will go to Delhi to protest against inflation on 12th December.
